Accomodation
Will you have family, or a large group of friends coming to visit you here in Kesennuma? You’ll need to find them a place to stay. You have several options for hotels, but allow me a moment to make a shameless plug for my personal favorite...
Hotel Boyo
This hotel is owned by Eiichi Kato, the president of Kesennuma International Friendship Association. The Kato family have always gone above and beyond to welcome their guests and make them feel at home. When my family visited Kesennuma this past year, Kato-san welcomed us to his dinner table and shared with us the story of operating Hotel Boyo as a disaster shelter in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.
In addition to their stories, the Kato family can provide you with recommendations for what to see around the area and may be able to introduce you to local guides and recommend nice places to eat.
